So I set out on a Pilgrimage, Father, looking for New England (can’t be worse than the old one). My ultimate metal Mecca of choice was to be Maryland Deathfest, but given the expense of getting over here I took the opportunity to go Amtraking across the universe and visit some more cities and friends in this North East corner before ending up there.

I say friends, internet acquaintances really, but the love of God(flesh) unites and humbles us, and is a great testament to the social power of the internet. Given this position of trust to “Let the wrong one in” to their homes they were also pleased I didn’t turn out to be a “raging asshole”, maybe just a mildly irritating one… 😉More

It might be an annual tryst but there was even more subterfuge to the subversion of this year’s DIY underground punk festival with it being at a secret location. You didn’t have to turn up with a pink carnation or black and red rose in your lapel though, a lot of the regulars were always going to come back on this date, it was only through limiting the numbers to the ever expanding success story that it had to be somewhat hidden.More

The exponential rise of the UK DIY festival continues at such a pace that we now have quality warm-up all-dayers linked to the already immense main events of the subsequent weekend. With my own lunatic road tripping plans already sorted that include the Sunday of this years ‘Kin Hell Fest the prospect of this prelude was almost a peaceful party in comparison. Yet, with realism, a 12 hour drinking session in the face of a trusted selection of prime local and UK underground extremity and a special US import headliner in Eagle Twin was inevitably going to lead to a messy fun time and do the perfect job in reducing/enhancing the stamina for self-destruction in the rest of the summer’s madness.More
