What a way to mark 4Q‘s 50th gig! Alas Y Cyrff didn’t think so, although I quite enjoyed some of their songs, they followed the trend of 4Q support bands and got a bad reception with people shouting our name, which is bad cos it makes us look like twats (or more twattish than we already are…). Promoter Martin Trehearn was shitting himself with people telling him he’s an idiot to put us on as we’d wreck the place. How wrong they were, and slowly but surely we’re beginning to be taken as a serious band without losing that 4Q brand of psychosis.More

Krystälnacht played the legendary Pancake Day party / Andy Warhol memorial concert at Bangor Trax Club on March 3rd 1987, alongside Y Cyrff, The Lungs and Zod Maelstrom. Andy Warhol had died only days before on February 22nd.

Ann Matthews (who would later play in Fflaps, Ectogram) designed this poster. She says; ‘Ah, this poster. A Collab. I nicked Alan’s and Cut’s logos and used a blow up of a microscope slide of a slice of plant bamboo I think! Alan’s posters were of course a lot slicker! Great bilingual gig days!’

Does anyone remember, or have any anecdotes from this Monday night gig in 1986 ?

Ann Matthews (later to be of Fflaps / Ectogram) says, ‘I made the poster – I remember that! Which means that it was a gig that Alan [Holmes] and I put on. It was one of the early bilingual gigs before the Fflaps were the Fflaps.’
She continues, ‘We’d heard the Anhrefn Records compilation LPs and were really impressed with them… this ended in getting some ‘new’ Welsh bands on. Sion [Anhrefn] shared a house with Beti (a friend) so we all got to meet. It was the first gig we put on that had Welsh language bands on with English language bands. I think we started a trend!’
