5ALIVE – James Domestic – The Five Albums That Keep Me Alive
Sudbury is a weird place; that’s only because James Domestic lives there… The prolific vocalist fronts more bands than you’ve had piña coladas (I’ll let him name some of them below). He also runs the very excellent label Kibou Records, that not only releases a raft of great stuff but distributes other labels’ output too.
Name: James Domestic
Best known for: The Domestics, PI$$ER, Tokyo Lungs.
Current location: Suffolk
Where I’d like to be right now: Murcia, Spain
My music collection has a lot of… hardcore punk, dub and roots reggae, soul…actually, lots of everything; my taste has always been really eclectic.
Don’t judge me for…anything! Actually, I’m not fussed if you judge me or not.
Five albums that keep me alive and why:
OUT COLD: Goodbye Cruel World. The best USHC band ever. All of their stuff is great.
GAUZE: Equalising Distort. The Japanese hardcore masters! All of their stuff is great.
BAXTER DURY: It’s a Pleasure. The last three albums have all been great, but this one was my first of his so…
THE FALL: This Nation’s Saving Grace. Once bitten, forever smitten by The Fall.
KRAFTWERK: Autobahn. Up until a few years ago I’d always bought the idea that Kraftwerk’s music was robotic and cold, but there is such warmth in the melodies and it still sounds utterly contemporary. All of their stuff is great.
