People! Discard your bitter souls! The gobshite from Derbyshire hath spake. Yes, the song machine with a Devil’s smile has volleyed a new album, and it’s a belter.
Since day one Rum Lad has been championed by Rhyl podcaster Paul Hammond, who regularly plays those noisy rants on his weekly Punk As Fuck show. As a thank you, and quite fittingly, this new album is called ‘Punk AF’.
‘Punk AF’ is a song howitzer of anger and despair, burst from Richie’s lungs with anger and despair. Following on from the debut album ‘Vandalism’ it is a continuation of his song arson, where Richie (for he is Rum Lad) starts fires rather than make any attempt to put them out.
His heart stained sleeve is laid down for all to see and you’re challenged to run the Rum Lad gauntlet. You’re being goaded and you are in the third person. Your challenge is to change that; change your viewpoint and the way you conduct your life. Music can do that and Rum Lad is the pointy fingered mouthpiece urging you to do so. Add to this the fact that the songs are infectiously catchy!
More mental than mentor, you find yourself listening to this vitriolic masterpiece in angry agreement.
