Coming from the wrong end of Wales (them, not me 😉 ), and being slightly before my time (that’s saying something!), this was a first opportunity for me to catch a veritable legend of anarcho-punk in Icons of Filth. Their relatively short periods of existence off and on from the late 70’s had perhaps preserved the esteem they were held in for the seriously politically motivated bite that they delivered back then.

It might be an annual tryst but there was even more subterfuge to the subversion of this year’s DIY underground punk festival with it being at a secret location. You didn’t have to turn up with a pink carnation or black and red rose in your lapel though, a lot of the regulars were always going to come back on this date, it was only through limiting the numbers to the ever expanding success story that it had to be somewhat hidden.

Swinelord, Stuck in a Rut, Dr Aids, Vitriolic Response, The Jeffrey Uppercut, Prosykynesis, What Lies Within, Neod

After getting spaced with Hawkwind, then Blitzed at some club after to 4 in the morning, getting blasted all day in Liverpool to finish couldn’t possibly be a good idea, could it? Originally I’d only planned to stop off for a couple of hours to offer support to the worthy cause of this fundraiser for P.D.S.A., never mind to the organisers and bands in general. However, a last minute change in plans meant I had to man up / drink up and face to prospect of the full session.
