UPDATE – Vaccines: Venue Cymru & SJM Statement

Venue Cymru have justified their action by stating that the 2,500 concert goers had been “protected from criminal activity by this extra vigilance”.  This is pretty much the same as saying “I did a rain dance and it didn’t rain, therefore rain dances really work”!

Venue Cymru have issued the statement below following their refusal to allow valid ticket holders into the Vaccines Concert at Llandudno last Monday because they were unable to answer questions about the names of the band’s albums.

An update on the story yesterday about fans being turned away from the Vaccines Concert at Venue Cymru despite having valid tickets, simply because they failed to answer questions such as “what is the name of the lead singer” and “name two of the band’s albums”.

Sometimes you read something on Facebook and think: “No, surely this is a joke…!”
That was my very response when I saw this today.  It would appear that the Publicity Department at Venue Cymru are experimenting with new ways to lose money.  I have never …ever …in my entire life heard of anything so ridiculous as asking people to take an I.Q. test before admitting them – even though they have a perfectly valid, paid-for, ticket!

Generally when I think of Llandudno, I think of old people, seagulls and generally just a lingering sense of disappointment. It’s therefore pretty rare that there would be an occasion where I would book tickets about 7 months in advance. The Vaccines were one of these rare occasions.
