GIG REVIEW – Focus Wales (Friday)

By |May 11th, 2018|0 Comments

After such a tremendous night and line up yesterday, I would have happily stayed at home satisfied that I had seen a great festival… That was only round one of three however… Escorting Garry Davies through his birthday weekend, we booked into our accommodation and set off toward town, meeting up with Tom Carroll (of Liverpool’s Bad Mood) for some celebratory beverages.

Neil Crud on TudnoFM – Show 91 – with Lolfa Binc (Repeat Session)

Bethesda’s Lolfa Binc came into the studio last September, it was an incredible experience; it wasn’t a session, it was a live performance. They left the place strewn with newspaper cuttings, baby oil and thimbles and stamped an indelible mark on the musical landscape of North Wales.
Check out their debut album ‘Black Lodge.’
Tonight’s show repeated that session, along with two hours of pure pop for punk people… Enjoy…

GIG REVIEW – White Ether, Lolfa Binc, Teeth Crack @ The North, Rhyl

I was here purely for enjoyment’s sake, having seen these acts on numerous occasions, and still in the recovery position after a weekend of overseas debauchery, reviewing was far from my mind. So for a line up I’ve experienced before to compel me to write about must have been a good night… (Or a shit one, but I tend not to write about them).

Lolfa Binc just appeared in June this year with an album ‘Black Lodge’ – a whirlwind of insanity, intensity and brilliance. I saw them make their debut live appearance at The North in Rhyl three weeks ago; quite possibly a life-changing experience… A session was hastily arranged and that too was pretty incredible! Listen to the entire two hour show below…

Well, what are you going to do on a Thursday evening when presented with a choice between Celebrity Masterchef on TV or a trip through to North Wales equivalent to Sin City that is Rhyl. As I walk through the door like a gun slinging outlaw stepping into a western saloon, half expecting a chair to come flying at me, I’m surprised to find that there’s a friendly welcome and an opening at the bar where I choose a pint of Tuborg for a small sum of two quid.. it’s a good start.
