Arriving fashionably two hours late to a gig, I was out fashioned by promoter Steve Rastin who fashionably started the show three hours later than the advertised time. This meant it was going to be a late one and there’d be a few lubricated heads at this charity event.
In an age where the bands quite often outnumber the audience it was great to see the ratio turn the other way tonight with little elbow room and plenty of ‘Oi, you’ve spilt my pint!’ kind of looks in a town that is generally like a scene out of Pulp Fiction.More
After the great enjoyment of my first visit last year I signed up before Xmas for another expedition to Midgard England. The main factors where the appreciable scale of the event in comparison to the lumpen monsters of Download and Sonisphere, the fact that it would be a great gathering of friends from over the UK (especially those who didn’t make foreign trips), and the single headline announcement made at the previous event of the black metal legends Immortal.More

Dragged the carcass from the pit painfully early to go and recover my car from the Bay, but my mood was brightened by blagging a free train. Then I recuperated the rest of the afternoon to reach the level of professional competence (i.e. ability to stand up) to fulfil my role as second assistant manual handling advisor to Depth Productions who were handling the PA at the Old Hall and coincidentally giving me a lift there.More
