Neil Crud on TudnoFM – Show 66 – with Brython Shag in Session

By |July 3rd, 2017|0 Comments

To say I love Brython Shag would be an understatement. When their debut eponymous album surfaced early last year it brought with it gutsy, heart-on-the-sleeve songs that sounded like they were recorded in a garage in the Welsh Quarter of San Francisco in 1972. So to finally get them into the studio to perform a live session was a bit of a personal coup for me. It was great fun… You can listen here.

The stature of Focus Wales grows every year, as does the stature of bands queuing up to play it and the queues of people wanting to see them. Spread across Wrexham in at least seventeen venues / stages / settings – it has something to offer for anyone looking for artistic enlightenment…. Or, in other words – getting smashed and having a great time. (pic Exit International by Brent Jones and below)

Maffia Mr Huws and Guests

have no right to exist, let alone make music as good as this. Hailing from Blaenau Ffestiniog, where pterodactyls still circle in the sky and the locals really are Gogs that live in caves, they not only make a fucking incredible noise they’ve also made one of the best albums I’ve heard in years.
