Funny place Chester, it doesn’t really have a scene… Yeah people flock from the suburbs when something piques their interest (like Skids at The Live Rooms 2 days earlier), but by all accounts it’s a pretty cliquey city. Chester Live has been running for a couple of years now, in a Focus Wales format; but Focus in Wrexham is well established, plus that town has a vibrant music scene. So some of the gigs here at Chester Live can be a bit bitty (others were sold out!)… This gig was one of the bitty ones, and the main act Louise Distras was obviously not as big a draw as anticipated.More
Although I applied pedal to the metal from Pie Records in Rhos-On-Sea, incorporating handbrake turns, doughnuts, aquaplaning and screeching to a halt outside The Pot in Rhyl, I only managed to catch Morvo carrying their amps down the stairs. Not quite the performance I had come to see and regrettably I missed their set.More

This is what makes us tick… I say ‘us’ as in real people who go out and watch live music, who support it and the causes involved. Today is an exception, as in, it was exceptional… What a great day!
Eleven bands, eleven great performances and several sore heads. Despite the fact that promoter Mark Watson-Jones was only made aware of the archaic 11pm closing for this Bank Holiday Sunday on the morning – a swift re-jig of stage times and even swifter changeovers ensured everyone got to play.More
