Friday becomes Saturday with an overnight thunderstorm (that a lot of people slept through) and my notebook for today is empty… Half hungover – half drunk you just go with the flow, chancing upon bands, perusing the stalls, missing bands you wanted to see, basking in the sun, sheltering from the rain, eating, drinking, dancing and skanking with friends and family, and talking nonsense to complete strangers – that is what Bearded Theory is all about.

Friday morning at Bearded Theory (or any festival) is always a little tentative… If you are one of those who queued to get in on Thursday, then, once in, you would have undoubtedly gone OTT on the alcohol intake because… Thursday night is party night…
For that very reason, Thursday is a bit sketchy… Skanked to a Don Letts DJ set in the Woodland, which was pretty funky, lots of classic songs dubbed up. Then endured Reverend And The Makers fronted by Keith Lemon on the Pallet Stage, but that’s about it…

David and Kathy Hopewell sprang up earlier this year as Hopewell Ink with the obscurest spoken-word album ‘Cure For Silence.’ This Bangor based project took the opportunity to air new material when I invited them in for a session. The resulting performance was nothing short of excellent.

Curiad Pulse Festival in Bangor is run by the tireless James Phillips and his team of dedicated workers. It’s a celebration of local music, mainly those centred around the city, but also spanning across North Wales too.
