Yassassin – DJ act at the Bistro in Rhyl started Apr96 as a one off punk-industrial night before taking up a weekend residency on the top dancefloor of the club later in the year. Lasting until 1998. Yassassin was Andy ‘Fatman‘ Heywood assisted for the 1st half by Neil Crud, the pair had a brief DJing reunion in Jul99 doing a 90 min slot of punk & industrial noise at the Xsentrik Selection night in the Orange Peel, Rhyl. Yosser – born 1966, St Asaph. Real name Paul Winston MacArthur Tomlinson. Spent High School life with Neil Crud dreaming of being in a punk band. He & Neil formed imaginary bands like Racket but with no instruments, & The Kidneys, with whom Yosser 9who then used the name Sid Sly) played the full 20 minute rehearsal before neighbours complained about the noise. Only known live performance was as a guest of 4Q to sing Anarchy in the UK at a gig in his home town in 1988.
Your Ancestors – Deeside metal band (Jan06 – 16.10.06), feat; Jose Sherwood (gtr), Josh Bithell (drms), Paul Collins (voc,gtr), Callum Nichols (bass), Aled Davies (keys). Paul left and Aled was sacked in Feb06. Formed as SlipStream then changed name to Engage (Mar06) and Alex Marland auditioned for vocals until Paul rejoined and left again within weeks, with Alex following. Jose took over vocals and by May06 they were called Your Ancestors. Callum then left, replaced by Jacob Makriel. Had rehearsal problems due to neighbours and the council complaining about the noise. Youth Trap – Denbigh band (formed 2005), feat; Chris Wood (voc,gtr), Tom Evans (voc,gtr), Aaron Canter (bass), Tom Hassall (drms) (all aged 13 in 2005). Product of the Denbigh Music Factory. (website)
Yucatan – shoegazing-soundscaping band from Cwm Llwm (formed 2006), feat; Dilwyn Llwyd (voc,gtr), Huw Lloyd (keys), Gwyn Llewelyn (bass), Iwan Huws (drms), Jenn Williams, Mirain Evans, Gwenno Roberts (all violin). Rel album ‘Yucatan’ (May08), which was rel in Japan (15.7.09) after playing some shows there, followed by ‘Enlli’ EP (Mar10) . Album ‘Uwch Gopa’r Mynydd’ (rel 22.06.15) was streamed from the top of Mt.Snowdon. Iwan, a keen hill walker was sadly found dead on Mt. Tryfan (15.01.18) (website)
Ysoriant – band feat; Declan Parry (bass) (ex This Thing, Hitchcock, Kobe, now Army of Crows). Caernarfon based Welsh language rock/metal band – now defunct. Members have incl Andrew Gregson (drms) (ex Darkside, Hitchcock, This Thing, Power Groove), Peter Cadmore (gtr), (brother of Ian Cadmore, Darkside), Declan Parry (bass) (ex Kobe, This Thing, Hitchcock, now Army of Crows), Wayne (gtr) (ex-Power Groove), Glyn (voc), (ex Darkside, last seen in Strymdingas). Did quite well on the local scene. Several releases out there if you can find them.
