David Stewart Jones – (Stu Ginge) Discography / Biography

Christmas 1979 – Santa delivered a JHS Les Paul copy with a Falcon 30 amp amplifier.

Sometime early 1980 – Stew pulls the guitar out from under the bed and plays Huw Evans a version of Message in a Bottle.

Tyrant – Stewart Jones (Guitar) Eddie Paul Bass, Steve Hughes Guitar, Formerly Martin Murray drums replaced by Alan Peters, Mark Evans (Vocals)- Supported Terminal at Denbigh Town Hall CND Gig 1982 ish. Clwyd Gate Hotel Ruthin and others.

 Stand in guitarist for Monza (Heavy Rock) featuring Russ North (Vox) who later went on to join band Tredeager also featured ‘boz’ on drums at the time , apparently a very good guitarist now.

 Grass – Supported Geraint Jarman at Corwen Pavillion April 1984. Supported Maffia Mr Huws at Bryn Morfydd Hotel Denbigh 1984. Switzerland summer festival tour 1985.

1986 – Buggered off to London, lived in a squat in Glyn Road, Hackney with a pile of Irish Punks – lost 18 months apprenticeship with father (electrician)

Bingo Pyjama – As above including new drummer Simon Elliot-Smith once signed to MCA Records and played with London based band The Wild Men of Wonger.

 Supported Du Du Puckwana and Zila at Pyramid Arts.

 Returned to North wales to audition for 4Q 1987/1988? Went to 4Q rehearsal / audition in Old Colwyn community hall/ scout hut. Was offered a gig in Hebdon Bridge. Couldn’t make it, bust a string.

The Energy Orchard (Signed to MCA 1989/90?)

Rehersed and recorded with Bap Kennedy (Brian Kennedy’s brother) and Joby Fox (Bass) as support band for Lee Scratch Perry (Bob Marley’s  producer) Also including Horrace Trubridge – Saxaphone (Formerly with Darts) Engineered by Harold Burgen (Produced The Screaming Blue Messiahs) Huw Evans threw up on his doorstep after the Lee Scratch Perry Gig at Hackney Empire.

Re-recorded “Ball of Confusion” (Temptations) with Steve Marshall featuring Brian Kennedy on backing vocals. Released as 12″ EP on State of Emergency label.

 Terminal – Various gigs.

 1987 – Anrhefn UK Tour – Stand in guitarist replacing Sion Jones of Maffia Mr Huws.

Note – Swansea University riot caused by the promoters not letting Englishspeaking punters into the gig. The band got involved!

 1988 – Re-Recorded at Elephant Studios, London a version of Bo Diddley by Bo Diddley. Unreleased. Also recorded two tracks with Lee Scratch Perry -Unreleased to this day.

 1988 – Studio sessions at Stiwdio Dafydd, Bangor (As used by Y Moniars)

 Dub Federation – Put down guitar with Martin Wilding (Stiwdio Dafydd). Released.

 1989/90 – The V8’s – Already listed. Auditioned for Diane Young of Chrysilis Records.

 1989/1990 – The SCB (The Steve Cawthray Band) Collaborating and writing material in Studio X Holywell.

 1990 – Auditioned for Sweet Mouth British Tour (Mark E Nevin, Fairground Attraction and Brian Kennedy) at Brian kennedy’s flat. Failed to get the job.

 1991/1992 – Played briefly with Rhyl based band Judgement House. Tony Babbington (Drums) ex Hungry Touch.

 Guitarist on recording “Hazel” by Candina Jane (singer / Songwriter) fromthe Rhyl area together with Steve Cawthray (Drums) which received air play.

Ghengis – Wrexham, 5 piece rock band. Rehersed at Cai Dai (Sparrow Harrison) Denbigh. Gigged the north west including The Tivoli Buckley supporting Cheap and Nasty (Ex Hanoi Rocks) and Blodwen Pig (Jethrow Tull) to Newcastle upon Tyne plus mini tour of Isle of Man. Recorded demo EP at Cottage Studios – Macclesfield with Roger Boden (Producer). Gengis finished off the Paul Diarno (Iron Maden) British tour. Band included Paul Sterman (Vox) (Now Total Chaos), David Stewart Jones (Gtr), Paul Sterman/Phil Rutter (Vox, ian Mayer (Drums), Chris Ellis (Bass) and Spook on keyboards 

The Beavers – featuring Steve Jones (Vox & bass) ex harvest Moon also Andy White (drums) later to join The Giro Gypsies. Jamie “The surfboarder” (Gtr) 

H3 Project with Dylan Hughes (Anrhefn) – Dance music. CD released, TV appearance on Dim Tafod (S4C)

 The Giro Gypsies – Already listed. Recorded demo tapes in Sefton Herman’s studio in Rhuddlan. hard working, hard gigging band, loved to shag the birds wherever they went. Trademark = very old, very rusty, light blue Bedford van. TV pilot appearance for Cwni Castell (production Co) programme “O’r Seller” (S4C).  Offered exclusive recording contract by Carrera records – Turned it down.

 Recorded guitar for the theme music for S4C’s “Rownd a Rownd” at Coleg Menai’s AV studios.

 1996 – One off gig with Brian “Liquorice” Locking former bass player with The Shadows (1962/1963), Marti Wilde and the Wildcats, Tommy Steele, Eddie Cochran and Big Jim Sullivan at Theatre Twm o’r Nant Denbigh. Supported by Redhill. Subsequently played at Denbigh Music festival (Pigstock) with Brian.

 1999 – Played Burbon Street Jazz Club Amsterdam, plus other Dutch venues, whilst working there.  

2000 – Played Pigstock 2000 with The Giro Gypsies. Met Rachel Davies, the Yoko Ono of the Giro Gypsies (VERY sexy bird), had baby (Gabe) and now living in bliss in Johnstown, Wrexham.
 

Current project – building a new studio and rewriting material.
