5ALIVE – Rum Lad – The Five Albums That Keep Me Alive
Richie is a Rum Lad who resides in the industrial wastelands of Derbyshire. He burst onto the scene in the last eighteen months with the no nonsense debut album ‘Vandalism.’ Championed at every opportunity by the Rhyl based Punk As Fuck radio show, Rum Lad named his follow up album ‘Punk AF’ and the excellent artwork was done by Bangor’s Meryl Sebon. ‘Punk AF’ is out now.
Name: Rum Lad
Best known for: Being a loud mouth anti Tory punk songwriter.
Current location: South Normanton, Derbyshire.
Where I’d like to be right now: In a country run by a government with even a slight degree of common sense.
My music collection has a lot of…loud stuff in it.
Don’t judge me for…saying the things that most people know are true but don’t have the bollox to say themselves.
Five albums that keep me alive and why:
Pixies – Surfer Rosa …loud, quiet, loud…Kim Deal, perfection.
Nirvana – Bleach …Raw, loud as fuck, angsty…. a don’t give a fuck album.
Built To Spill – Untethered Moon …perfect alt rock songs with guitars and harmonies to die for, so underrated.
Interpol – Turn On The Bright Lights …Roland, PDA, Obstacle 1, Stella Was A Diver And She Was Always Down… One of the greatest bands of the modern age in my humble opinion.
Bromheads Jacket – Dits From The Commuter Belt …Should have been far bigger than Arctic Monkeys… an album full of absolute bangers.
