NEW SINGLE – The Immediate – A Satellite Lies In The Ocean
The Immediate may have scrapped the idea of releasing a vinyl album and gone for the option of drip feeding us its content through the medium of digital singles and EPs. I could be way off the mark, but the frustration of Brexit-Covid driven pressing plants is leading bands to opt for Plan B when it comes to getting their stuff out there. The one plus side from this frustrating delay is that they do get to extend the shelf life of their material by releasing it digitally now and on vinyl in 2024.
This triple A-side (AAA) offers up that sincerity you come to expect from the Mold based outfit. The opening (A-side) A Satellite Lies In The Ocean is lyrically loaded with interrelating lines and complexities that cleverly pay homage to The 60ft Dolls. It’s a complex tune made to sound simple; the sign of a good band.
The AA-side is Air and the opening would have The Cure‘s lawyers reaching for the phone (only to realise The Immediate have no money). The song is a lament to their own band (The Immediate), a band of three brothers who make music (great guitar solo too).
Let’s go all AAA and dish out The Boy With The Bowlhead – it could be semi-autobiographical or just a bit of fun – or both… Either way… it works.
I make it seven songs from The Immediate now out there this year… A couple more singles will make this a great album on vinyl…. …in 2024
