New Split 7″ – Katutura / Nil By Nose
In my 100mph punk rock world, I more often than not dismiss, skip or ignore pieces of music longer than a minute or so in length! I actually struggle with two minute songs; muttering ‘life is too short’ – ha! Lack of going out and having our civil gigging rights removed has given me the opportunity to venture into the unknown world of 3+ minute pieces of music…
Clocking in at a lifetime length of SEVEN minutes and ten seconds is one side of the new lathe cut split single from Katutura / Nil By Nose.
Katutura’s Misanthropic High (Antidot RMX) is a pretty scary eerie Hades-like bad trip led by a voodoo preacher who demands you project your spirit from his basement in Namibia. Like a disturbing Manikineter without the digital noise… It’s a creeper that creeps upon you and well worth checking out (before you check out of Hotel Armageddon).
Flip over this very limited edition release and your projected spirit is lifted somewhat by the familiar nuances of Nil By Nose. The sub-tripping-washing-upping bemusement arcade sound of Erv Moshing Thee kind of jaunts along the cerebral highway. It’s overlaid with a slurred optic-shelf conversation that could actually be Derek & Clive slowed down or through a pitch shifter, this sends you into an uneasy level of comfort…
A hand lathe cut 7″ split single Katutura (Antidot Rmx) & Nil by Nose. Limited to 20 copies on clear or black vinyl (10 of each) with a vibrant Purple cardboard sleeve. The single also features an insert with a Nil by Nose collage and notes from Edward Banchs author of Heavy Metal Africa.
