Birkenhead; renamed Brokenhead by Bite Back who effectively arranged this whole day, plays host to a sackful of ace bands today. It’s dubbed Here Comes The Summer and boasts the aforementioned Bite Back, System Of Hate, Geoffrey Oicott, The Webb, Potential Victims and more…

For myself (and the kiddo), it was a late afternoon drive-by to up our punk-rock serotonin levels and check out this new venue. Molly’s Chamber is purpose built and so damn cool, I could move in tomorrow and feel at home… What an amazing place – and what a venue..!! Decked out with all the right clobber, brazen wooden floors, walls, tables and chairs… a balcony… And today; great music…

It’s been a few years since I’ve seen The Kirkz (six actually) – it’s always good to go on early at an all dayer – you can get your set out of the way and relax (have a few beers) and enjoy the rest of the bands. The (real) lads from Macc gave us thirty minutes of full on, energetic new skool punk rock with a hardcore twist. That twist being that familiar sound of the mid 2000s – ahh, take me back to those halcyon Dudley Arms in Rhyl days…

Sheepy [main pic by richie yates] are working on their third album… I own two singles.. A wrong I’m about to right after seeing them for the first time. Early tuning-set-back issues aside, Sheepy turned over a decent and eclectic set. Their sound ranges from raging punk rock to psychedelic subtleties and into the realms of 60s poptastic not arf beauty. Dead classy hook lines and neat riffs that all amount to a deliverance of aceness….

Cheers…
