The Moors Murderers did indeed play one gig supporting The Slits, in the rather bizarre surroundings of Holland Park Comprehensive school in London where Slits singer Ari Up was a pupil. Steve Strange and Chrissie Hynde were both involved and the drummer is alleged to have been one Nick Holmes who worked as a roadie for the punk band Eater. Dave Goodman, who produced the early Sex Pistols demos, was incorrectly named as “the man behind the record” by the News Of The World as a result of Strange and his cohorts conducting their interview with the Sunday tabloid at Goodman’s flat.

Apparently they played a second gig in January ’78 at the Roxy in Harlesden. Strange claimed in his 2002 autobiography that Dave Goodman was behind the whole thing, but Goodman has always distanced himself from the project and successfully sued Strange’s publishers Orion for libel.
