All art is ultimately a futile gesture by one set of standards, which is of course the whole motivation behind creativity in the first place.

The futility’s not in the gesture but by its misinterpretation or wilfully being ignored cause it doesn’t fit someone’s set of dull values.

And whilst those attitudes exist, every piece of art that confronts them – even if ignored – is by definition worth the time. Even if nobody else sees it or cares. It exists – that’s why it’s important. Somebody made it; someone was moved to do something just for the sake of the process itself.

Another excellent piece, it’s a topic close to my heart, it’s also the very thing I’ve been rambling about ad nauseam since returning to Wales two years ago.
I’d love to share some thoughts with you one day, it’s never too late, change can still happen, it “simply” takes the right people to make it happen…and I’m sure that you are that man.

That’s great. I’ll have to print out those Xmas cards and use them next year, although the Muggles won’t understand what it says …

Have a listen to your Crai output. If you can get through it without wanting to vomit your eardrums out of your japs eye, you’ve probably blocked your ears with all the fivers you earnt off Radio Cymru when they played Anweledig and Tokyu.

Can’t work out whether that was punk rock or high treason.

Nice rant! I was on the fringes of the Welsh punk scene in Bangor in the 80s – but playing something called jug band music. Equally futile!
