After podcasting for a few years, “The Podcast Four”, available on iTunes and podcastfour.blogspot.com, decided to make a micro-budget digital feature film.

Last Night At Emilio’s was written and directed by Dom Farelli, produced by Marcus J. Mitchell & Daniel Rhodes and starred Shaun “Bear” Hurley. It’s the story of a young restaurateur on closing night at the family restaurant, all is well until his estranged older brother makes a reappearance wanting to keep the restaurant open.
After a successful internet campaign to raise a budget (aided in no small part by The West Wing’s Josh Malina), the newly formed company of TP4 Films used talent from Bangor to London to shoot over 18 nights in May 2011, with some Bangor media students helping behind the scenes. The entire film was set and shot in the one location, an Italian restaurant in Conwy.

Music was provided by a mix of local musicians, Beyond The State, Junebug, Ellie Markham, Nia and The Shivering Hills. Finishing off with Nottingham based Will Jeffrey and American rapper Soul Khan. The music was collected and released as a soundtrack, which was available at HMV Bangor and Llandudno, and will be available from the official site.

The film was submitted to several film festivals both home and abroad, and despite some very polite rejections, it was awarded the 2012 Award of Excellence in Filmmaking from the Canada International Film Festival.

Dom Farelli says, ‘We’re about to release the film for free at our site lastnightatemilios.co.uk and our Facebook group (search: Last Night At Emilio’s) on Wednesday June 6th. At 8pm UK time. Film is not suitable for under 15s. Contains strong language and brief nudity.’
