(review by guy salvador) (sgroliwch i lawr y fersiwn Cymraeg)
The debate all week in the Salvador household has gone something along the lines of:
Referring to the ticket for tonight’s gig “it’s the name of the support band, not a real buffet” surely not…..
But all, please wait, featuring at this gig is confirmed Welsh goof-ball, the brilliant “Euros Childs”.  Got to mention this….  Euros used to front maybe the finest of all Welsh bands & if you are like me & have mourned the strange demise of “Gorkys Zygotic Mynci”, you will be delighted to see him back on a stage & releasing records.  Being the last date on his British tour, to support his new album “Chops”, Buy it!
Tonight, in the luxurious surroundings of, “Canton Labour club”.  Well, this is actually a pre-fab sort of, shed, alongside the main building.  The type of place that gets hired out for 18th birthday parties, amateur boxing nights & pensioners false teeth juggling awards.

What a great place for a “Euros Childs” gig!

Back to the important stuff, the buffet…..  Yes, it was a real one with, sausage rolls, pizza, Swiss rolls, doughnuts and any number of your favourite buffet delights.  If you didn’t fancy the embarrassment of going up with your plate to get some food yourself it was offered around on trays by young ladies, how civilised!  Alongside “Labour club” beer prices & a free raffle on entry we couldn’t really go wrong.

First band on tonight were “Radio Luxembourg”, from Aberystwyth.  There are obvious comparisons to the afore-mentioned “Gorkys”, this not being a bad thing & with “Euros Childs” producing their splendid recent single Pwer Y Flwer / Lisa, out on “Ciwdod”, there is obviously a link.  What a great band!  Great fun, live set played with great gusto & smiles.  There is no real PA tonight or lights, just a really basic small vocal PA & a couple of rope lights thrown around the stage.  Goes to show that if the songs are good & the band approach it with the right attitude you don’t need a lot.  “Radio Luxembourg” got this one bang on & I notice they are playing Cardiff again in the near future, to which, I may trot along to, nice one chaps!

With the excitement of “Euros Childs” & the raffle draw imminent you could feel the excitement building.  Without any fuss, Mr Childs & his band appeared on stage, with Meilyr Jones, bass player & singer from “Radio Luxembourg” on bass along with Alun Tan Lan on guitar who interestingly has ridden a white stallion, bought for him by Euros to all the gigs on the tour.  Apparently, according to the tour diary on “Euros Childs” website, he is none too used to travelling in a vehicle & decided to excrete in the back of the van at one of the early gigs…..  Hence, he had to go by horse!

Even with the size of PA mentioned above, all Euros needs is his organ(?) & his voice to start the show.  His singing voice, which is superb, is one of the most distinctive & gives a real signature to everything he does.  Playing most of the “Chops” album tonight, with the new single “Donkey Island” getting a robust cheer.  All of this is much appreciated, by, what can only be described as a star studded (in Welsh terms) audience.  Lots of other bands, musicians, artists, TV bods etc.  along for this one.  Musically, Euros is not doing anything too far away from what he was doing with Gorkys but, why would he?  Commercially things probably never happened for Gorkys in the UK, much to do with them being in front of the scene for the most part with everyone else catching up with them a few years later.  Maybe it’s time that “Euros” gets some commercial success which he deserves.  With no John Peel around anymore, who loved “Gorkys”, Euros will have to work even harder to get to peoples ears but on tonight’s showing it is well worth it & myself & Mrs Salvador will be there for next, for sure!

Mae dadl yr wythnos yn y ty Salvador wedi mynd rhywbeth fel:
ynglun ar tocyn am gig heno " enw'r fand mae o, nid buffet go iawn!" Naci wir..

Ond pawb, arhoswch os gwelwch yn dda, oherwydd yn chwarae heno yw 'goof ball' Cymraeg ardderchog, "Euros Childs". Mae rhaid  ddweud hwn...Yn y gorffenol, ddyn blaen un or fandiau gorau yng Nghymru oedd Euros, ac os wyt ti, fel fi, wedi colli 'Gorky's Zygotic Mynci' ers iddyn nhw diflanu oddi wrth wyneb y fyd cerddoriaeth, bydded di wrth dy fodd yn ei weld yn ol ar y lwyfan ac yn creu cerddoriaeth. Ddiwrnod olaf y taith Prydeinig oedd heno, i mynd yng nglhwm efo'r album newydd 'Chops.'
Heno, yn yr amgylchfa hwylus o'r " Canton Labour Club," y fath o le bydd yn cael ei rentio allan i pharties penblwydd deunaw oed, cwffio ameteur a custadlaeaeth jwgglo dannedd fug yr hen-oed.
Lle go dda am gig Euros Childs!
Yn ol i'r pethau pwysig. Y buffet... Ie, un go iawn oedd o, efo 'sausage rolls,' pizza, pwdin roli poli, a unrhiw nifer o dy bwydydd buffet orau. Os nag oeddech chi eisiau embaressio dy hun wrth lenwi dy phlat efo fwyd, roedd e'n cael ei phasio o gwmpas gan menywod ifanc. Hefyd, efo pris cwrw y Labour Club, a raffl am ddim, beth arall sydd ei hangen?
Band cyntaf arno heno oedd 'Radio Luxembourg, o Aberystywyth. Mae na cysylltiadau amlwg efo 'RL' a 'Gorkys', on nid peth ddrwg ydy hon, efo Euros Childs yn weithio ar ei trac cyntaf 'Pwer y Flwer' allan ar 'Ciwdod'. Am fand wych! a pob can yn cael ei chwarau a gwen a phwer bendigedig.
Does dim PA go iawn heno, na  golauadau, dim on PA llais bach a golauadau rhaff wedi ei taflu ar y llwyfan.
Mae hwn yn ei ddangos bod os yw'r canaeon yn dda, a'r fand ar awydd gywyr, does dim angel llawer arnoch. Efo'r cynnwrf yn codi efo amser Euros Childs a'r raffl yn ddod yn agos, roedd yr awyrgylch yn ddechrai byrlymi. Heb unrhiw ffus na phwdan, cerddordd Mr Childs a'i fand ar lwyfan efo Meilyr Jones o Radio Luxembourg yn chwarae'r bass, a hefyd Alun Tan Lan,  sydd yn ddweud ei fod wedi marchogaeth ceffyl gwyn wedi ei prynnu iddo gan Euros, I phob ddiwrnod ar y taith.
Hyd yn oed efo'r PA fach, I gyd oedd angen ar Euros oedd ei lais i ddechrau'r sioe.
Llais unigriw ardderchog sydd gan Euros, a nid ydy o'n hawdd i cymysgu ei canauon efo canauon unrhiw cerddwr cymraeg arall. Mae'n chwarae rhan fwyaf o'r albym 'Chops', yn ogystal a'r can newydd 'Donkey Island'.  Mae'r cynylleidfa yn hoff iawn o hwn. A mae rhaid ddweud bod y cynylleidfa yn llawn ser teledu a cherddoriaeth cymraeg.
Nid ydy Euros yn mynd yn rhy bell oddi wrth y fath oswn roedd e'n creu efo 'Gorky's', on pan bydd o? Efallai mae'n amser I Euros cael y fath o llwyddiant masnachol mae o'n ei heiddu efo 'Chops'. efo dim John Peel, bydd rhaid i Euros  gweithio'n galetach byth i cyrraedd clystiau pobl. Ond heno, mae o wedi bod yn wych, a bydd Mrs Salvador a finne yn y gynylleidfa am y gig nesa, siwr o fod!
P.s. Ni enillais y raffl.
