I was also at the gig together with Penrhyndeudraeth and Porthmadog Punks. Apart from what you’ve already mentioned, two things stick out, from my recollection, that night. Firstly The Damned’s opener was ‘ Wait for the blackout ‘ preceded by one of the best ( and still to this date ) opening light shows ! And secondly, Rat and The Captain swapping instruments, for an encore, and a version of ‘Pretty Vacant ‘!
To add to your list of bands seen on the pier… Theatre Of Hate, The Two Tone tour, Dexys Midnight Runners and The NWOBHM tour featuring Saxon and Girlschool !!!!

I was the DJ for the night, I actually worked behind the bar but the normal DJ didn’t have any punk records. So I trundled home and got mine, highlight was Rat Scabies going through my collection before the gig, I had seen them in Sheffield on the Sunday and the Bay on the Friday night, saw them last about 4 years ago in Stoke – great band.

Sorry to jump in 3 years later, but… what year was this gig? We’re writing a bid to heritage lottery fund to rescue and redevelop Victoria Pier. Have a look at http://www.colwynpier.org.uk.

Happy days. How can we deny our next generations the chance to socialise away from I pads and have memories like this ??

I was there all those years ago. Got to Dixies early and watched the Damned’s sound check. Also got their autographs on the same poster as yours!
